RABAT, Aug 5 – Morocco’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics has announced a new round of direct financial support for road transport professionals, covering the period from July 16 to 31, 2026.
The ministry said the support is part of the government’s continued efforts to help passenger and freight transport operators manage the impact of high global fuel prices on the local market. Applications for the newest round of assistance will open on Thursday, August 6, through the ministry’s online platform.
The programme has been renewed several times since fuel prices began raising transport costs. Earlier this year, the government also changed the payment schedule to every 15 days to better match changes in international fuel prices.
Road transport operators have continued to urge the government to keep the subsidy in place, saying operating costs remain high despite temporary price reductions.
The ministry did not disclose the value of the latest support package. However, it said the programme is meant to reduce the effect of fuel price swings on transport operators while maintaining support for the sector.
The announcement follows another increase in fuel prices after a short period of relief. In early May, diesel prices dropped by about MAD 1 per litre, while petrol fell by around MAD 1.10 per litre, pushing both below MAD 15 per litre after a series of increases. However, prices have started rising again in recent days.
