Ghana and Afreximbank Resolve $750 Million Financing Facility

Accra, Dec 26 – The Government of Ghana and the African Export-Import Bank have announced the successful resolution of issues surrounding a $750 million financing facility signed in 2022, clearing the way for continued cooperation under Ghana’s development agenda.

In a joint statement issued on Thursday, Ghana’s Ministry of Finance said the matter had been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties, allowing the facility to proceed without further impediments.

The agreement removes uncertainty around the financing arrangement and reinforces Afreximbank’s role as a strategic partner in Ghana’s economic and development priorities. While specific terms of the resolution were not disclosed, both sides confirmed that the outcome supports ongoing collaboration and long-term engagement.

The facility, originally agreed in 2022, forms part of Ghana’s broader efforts to secure development financing amid fiscal pressures and constrained access to international capital markets.

Officials said the resolution reflects continued dialogue and alignment between Ghana and Afreximbank, underscoring confidence in the country’s reform path and commitment to meeting its financial obligations.
