RABAT, April 16 – Fuel prices in Morocco have increased since the start of April, with diesel rising from MAD 12.79 to MAD 14.50 per litre, while petrol climbed from MAD 13.92 to MAD 15.60, according to industry data.
The price increases have been reflected across transport and distribution networks linking Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat, Tangier and Casablanca. In the agricultural supply chain, transporters moving produce from the Souss-Massa region to wholesale markets in Casablanca and Rabat said higher diesel costs are pushing up logistics charges.
In the Fez-Meknes region, the National Coordination of Road Freight Transport Unions said the latest diesel increase of MAD 1.70 in less than a month is affecting trucking operations with the group noting that some operators transporting goods between Fez, Casablanca, Tangier Med and inland industrial zones are facing rising fuel costs.
The union has called for support measures, including subsidies for transport operators and a temporary cap on fuel prices.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s Competition Council said in a recent note that it found no anti-competitive behaviour in the fuel market. However, it added that distributors continue to adjust prices on similar dates with nearly identical increases.
The rise in fuel prices has extended across freight, intercity transport and distribution channels, with cost increases recorded along major routes connecting key commercial centres.
