Egypt’s Industrial Production Index Rises 4.7% in October 2025

Cairo, Dec 30 – Egypt’s industrial production index for manufacturing and extractive industries excluding crude oil and petroleum products rose by 4.7% month on month in October 2025, reflecting improved activity across several sectors, official data showed.

The index climbed to 125.90 in October from 120.27 in September, based on preliminary figures released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

Manufacturing of computers, electronic and optical products, and medical devices recorded the strongest performance. The sector’s index surged to 166.13 from 78.11 in the previous month, representing a 112.69% increase, driven by higher production volumes.

Output in the leather and leather products segment also expanded, with the index rising to 57.95 in October from 39.96 in September. The 45.02% increase was attributed to stronger market demand.

Other sectors recorded declines. The index for machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified fell to 105.34 from 131.98, a drop of 20.18%, reflecting weaker demand for air conditioning units.

Similarly, the index covering other manufacturing industries declined to 108.78 in October from 130.46 in September, down 16.62%, due to reduced demand conditions.
