KINSHASA, Oct 9 – The Central Bank of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has kept its benchmark policy rate unchanged at 12.5%, according to a statement released on Thursday following a meeting of its Monetary Policy Committee.

The decision maintains the existing monetary policy stance, with the central bank opting not to adjust its benchmark rate at the latest meeting.

The policy rate is a key instrument used by the central bank to influence borrowing costs, credit conditions and inflation across the economy. Keeping the rate unchanged leaves the benchmark cost of money at its previous level.

The central bank did not provide further details in the statement on the reasoning behind the decision.
