RABAT, Sept 19 – US-based automotive supplier Veritas has completed a new manufacturing facility in Tangier, Morocco, marking the company’s first manufacturing operation in Africa as it expands its global production network.
The company said the facility is also its first brownfield manufacturing project since HDT Automotive Solutions acquired a substantial portion of Germany-based Veritas AG in 2024, combining the businesses under the Veritas name.
The new plant is designed to strengthen Veritas’ ability to supply original equipment manufacturers and Tier 1 automotive suppliers operating in Morocco and North Africa, where international automakers and component manufacturers have continued to expand their production footprints.
Patrick Paige, president and CEO of Veritas, described the Morocco investment as “an important step” in the company’s global growth strategy. He said the facility would strengthen Veritas’ “global manufacturing network,” improve customer support and position the company “for future opportunities in an ever-changing and dynamic market.”
The Tangier facility covers 5,000 square meters, including 3,835 square meters dedicated to production. It is equipped with extrusion capabilities, with manufacturing scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027.
The operation will be led by Jawad Miraoui, Veritas’ general manager in Morocco. Miraoui has more than 18 years of experience in the automotive industry, including operations management, supply chain leadership and greenfield plant development.
Miraoui described the facility as “an important milestone” for Veritas in a growing automotive market and said the company intends to focus on “building a strong local team and establishing a world-class operation that supports our customers from this strategic location.”
The investment forms part of Veritas’ broader effort to align its manufacturing capacity with the geographic expansion of its customers. The company expects its Moroccan presence to support existing automotive programs while creating opportunities to compete for additional contracts in the region.
Veritas Expands Global Automotive Supply Network
Veritas, headquartered in Livonia, Michigan, supplies rubber, plastic, aluminum and steel components used in automotive cooling, fluid management and climate-control systems.
The company operates 13 manufacturing facilities across Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Poland and the United States. Its operations serve automotive markets across North America, Europe and Asia, with a global workforce of more than 5,000 employees.
Its customers include BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, General Motors, Isuzu, Rivian, Stellantis, Suzuki, Toyota, Volvo and Volkswagen Group.
In 2025, HDT Automotive Solutions, now operating as Veritas, was recognized by General Motors as a Supplier of the Year, an award given to suppliers identified by the automaker for strong performance.
The company’s current structure emerged from the 2024 transaction in which HDT acquired Veritas’ headquarters, technical center and manufacturing operations in Gelnhausen, Germany, as well as facilities in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary and Mexico.
Veritas traces its industrial origins to Berliner Gummiwaarenfabrik, founded by William Elliott in Berlin in 1849 and described by the company as Germany’s oldest rubber processing business. The Veritas name comes from the Latin word for “truth.”
HDT was established in 2017 after French private-equity firm Ardian acquired Italy-based Dynamic Technologies and combined it with Huron, an existing Ardian portfolio company in the United States. The resulting group was headquartered in Livonia and focused on automotive tubular components and thermal and fluid-management systems.
With the Tangier facility, Veritas is adding an African production base to that international manufacturing network, giving the company a direct operating presence in one of North Africa’s established automotive manufacturing locations.
