RABAT, Mar 2 – Morocco’s automotive exports increased to more than MAD 12.24 billion ($1.34 billion) in January 2026, marking a 19.1 percent rise from a year earlier, according to reports from the state media.

The sector recorded growth even as total national exports declined by 2.7 percent to MAD 34.5 billion during the same period.

Manufacturing activity led the expansion in automotive exports. Shipments from the construction segment rose 60.6 percent to nearly MAD 4.37 billion, up from MAD 2.72 billion in January 2025. In addition, the electrical wiring segment increased 9.6 percent to MAD 4.96 billion, reflecting sustained demand from international markets.

The aviation sector also posted gains. Exports rose 8.7 percent to more than MAD 2.43 billion, supported by a 17.2 percent increase in assembly activity. However, the Electrical Wire Interconnection System segment declined 5.9 percent, partially offsetting overall growth in the sector.

In contrast, several key export categories recorded declines. Phosphates and derivatives dropped 43.4 percent, while agriculture and agro food exports fell 9.5 percent. The textile and leather sector declined 5.9 percent, and electronics and electricity exports decreased by 3.8 percent.

The automotive sector continues to play a central role in Morocco’s export structure, supported by industrial investments and established supply chain networks linked to European markets. The latest figures shows that the sector remains one of the country’s most resilient export drivers despite broader trade pressures.
