LAGOS, July 22 — Energy solutions provider Aggreko has appointed Nigel Greatorex as General Manager for Nigeria as the company strengthens its presence in one of Africa’s largest energy markets.

Greatorex took charge of Aggreko’s Nigeria operations in early June, bringing more than three decades of experience across the energy, utilities, oil and gas, petrochemical and industrial sectors. The appointment comes as the company seeks to expand its ability to provide flexible and reliable power solutions to businesses facing growing energy demands.

Nigeria’s industrial sector continues to face challenges around power reliability, with companies across oil and gas, manufacturing, mining, infrastructure and commercial sectors seeking alternative energy solutions to maintain operations and improve efficiency.

Greatorex joins Aggreko from ABB, where he served as Global Industry Business Manager for Carbon Capture and Storage, leading initiatives focused on energy transition technologies and decarbonisation. He has also held senior roles across Africa, including Nigeria, giving him experience in the region’s energy and industrial landscape.

Edith Kikonyogo, Managing Director of Aggreko Africa, said Nigeria remained a key market in the company’s growth strategy across the continent.

“Nigeria is a key part of our growth strategy across Africa. Nigel’s appointment reflects our commitment to investing in leadership and strengthening our presence in the country,” Kikonyogo said.

Greatorex said Nigeria offered opportunities for innovation, growth and partnerships as the country’s businesses seek solutions to address changing energy needs.

“Nigeria presents tremendous opportunities for innovation, growth and partnership. I am delighted to be joining Aggreko as the company strengthens its commitment to the country and its customers,” he said.

Aggreko said it plans to continue expanding its operations in Nigeria by providing technology, expertise and local support to help businesses manage energy requirements through flexible and sustainable power solutions.
