LONDON, Oct 26 – Airtel Money reported revenue of $830 million for the six months ended September 2026, up 25.1% year-on-year in constant currency, in its maiden financial results following its London stock market listing.
Profit after tax increased to $228 million from $188 million in the corresponding period a year earlier, primarily reflecting strong revenue growth, the company said on Monday.
The results provide an initial financial performance update following Airtel Money’s London debut on October 9, as the mobile money business seeks to expand its customer base and deepen digital financial services adoption across Airtel Africa’s markets.
Customer base expands to 56.7 million
Airtel Money’s customer base grew by 18.7% to 56.7 million during the reporting period. Mobile money penetration among Airtel Africa’s telecommunications customers reached 42.9%, an increase of 3.2 percentage points year-on-year.
Average revenue per user rose by 5.1% in constant currency, supported by increased transaction activity and higher transaction values per customer.
The average monthly transaction value per customer reached $397, representing an increase of 14.9%. The figures point to growth in both customer adoption and the value of transactions processed through the platform.
The combination of a larger customer base and increased transaction activity supported the growth in revenue and profitability during the first half.
Interim dividend declared as guidance maintained
Airtel Money announced an interim dividend of 6.4 cents per share and reiterated its full-year guidance, signalling that the company remains committed to its existing financial outlook following the London listing.
Chief Executive Ian Basil Ferrao described the listing as a significant milestone for the business.
“Our oversubscribed London listing was a landmark achievement for Airtel Money and a vote of confidence in our business model and strategy,” Ferrao said.
The listing provides investors with a direct route to gain exposure to Airtel Money’s mobile financial services business, separate from the wider telecommunications group.
Shares trade below listing price
Despite the reported revenue and profit growth, Airtel Money’s shares closed at 179 pence on Friday, below the offer price of 196 pence at its October 9 market debut.
The closing price represented a decline of approximately 8.7% from the offer price.
The early share performance contrasts with the company’s reported growth in revenue, earnings and customer numbers, although trading since the listing remains a limited period from which to assess investor sentiment.
Airtel Money’s subsequent performance will depend on its ability to sustain customer growth, increase transaction activity and convert expanding digital payments adoption into revenue and earnings, while delivering on its full-year guidance.
