JOHANNESBURG, Aug 31 – Eskom CFO Calib Cassim will retire from South Africa’s state-owned power utility during the financial year ending March 2027, after 24 years with the company.

Cassim, who also served as Eskom’s acting Group Chief Executive for a year, was involved in the utility’s operational recovery and its return to profitability. He told Reuters that he was confident his successor would continue the progress made under the current leadership team.

“I will take a rest and watch Eskom succeed,” Cassim said. Eskom said it plans to appoint a new Group Chief Financial Officer before the end of 2026.
