Nigeria Says 147 Structures May Be Affected by Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

ABUJA, Aug 10 – About 147 structures in Lagos may be affected by the construction of a service lane for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, President Bola Tinubu said on Sunday.

Tinubu said only five of the structures are expected to be fully demolished, while the remaining 142 would face minimal impact from the project.

The President spoke during a stakeholder meeting held alongside the flag-off of rehabilitation work on the Eko and Marine bridges and repairs to a flooded section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Represented by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Tinubu assured owners of affected properties that the Federal Government would provide compensation where necessary asking residents and other stakeholders to remain patient as the projects move forward.

The figure of 147 affected structures was presented by a representative of the AEC consortium during the meeting and the president said the stakeholder engagement was aimed at gaining public support and ensuring the projects are carried out smoothly.

The President also called on Lagos residents and other stakeholders to support infrastructure projects, saying some adjustments may be needed for the projects to deliver long-term benefits.
